A startling statistic of the deaths on British roads attributes dangerous driving to nearly all of the seven deaths that occur each and every day. This problem is now being looked at by the government in the hopes that they can do something to solve it. A new maximum prison sentence of five years for dangerous driving was proposed by Jack Straw, the justice secretary in December 2009. Two years is the maximum penalty imposed on those found guilty of dangerous driving at the moment.
It is an assumption that most of us make that it is the young or newly qualified drivers who are the only ones guilty of dangerous driving. However there are many drivers who have been found guilty of dangerous driving that have had their driving licences for a long time. A lot of people would actually fail their driving test if they had to take it now because of the fact that over the years they have picked up a lot of bad habits.
But if you are concerned about the driving of a friend, family member or even yourself, you can avail of courses specially designed for those with full licences. The Institute Of Advanced Motoring in London have courses which can help. You can avail of assessments and lessons to make sure you get rid of those bad habits.
Many of us would be surprised to find that we would not pass a driving test now if we had to take one. Checking mirrors as much as is needed and observing speed restrictions are two things that we seem to put less emphasis on the longer we are driving. But checking your mirror when you slow and speed up are just as important as checking them when turning. Being extra vigilant can of course save lives. Because how many of us would actually pass our tests if we had to take one now?
If you are looking for a driving related job, any potential employer is well withing their right to do official checks to the type of license you hold . Driving licence is an issue you should take care about. Never try to apply for a driving job without the appropiate license because you will be found out.
